The main goal of the ITeCons2020 project is to internationalize the R&D activities carried out at ITeCons by implementing an integrated and sustained strategy of exploring the EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation – Horizon 2020. Through increasing ITeCons’ participation in Horizon 2020, this project will promote its competitiveness at a European level, therefore contributing to greater recognition of its scientific capabilities and competitive resources at an international level. Supported by opportunities of European funding in the 2014-2020 period, the ITeCons2020 project activities will establish new contacts with international agents, which will stimulate the internationalization of ITeCons.

The structure of the project entails a plan of activities which at a first will focus on the stimulation of an environment that is favourable for the development and systemization of ideas for European projects and for the establishment of contacts with lead European entities in areas which are similar and complementary to those in which ITeCons operates, looking to ensure the submission of competitive project proposals. The second stage will be the implementation of a plan to participate in the Horizon2020 programme that consist in the preparation of five proposals to act as coordinator or partner in projects in the fields of “Energy”, “Water and Environment”, “Habitat”, “Materials and raw-materials” and “Production technologies and product industry”. These areas are aligned with the priority areas of the strategy for research and innovation for smart specialization (National RIS3 and RIS3 Central).

ITeCons will work in cooperation with a consulting agency which has vast experience in the preparation and submission of project proposals within the European funding programmes (FP7 and H2020) to gather a team of highly qualified professionals from different fields that are fundamental in order to achieve the goals set out in this project.
